Fazenda Amarantes belongs to the brothers Télio and Tarlei in the municipality of Carmo De Cachoeira. The farm has been in the family since their grandfather Jaci Correa started to produce coffee in 1969 and they began working on the farm in 1993. They initially continued in the traditional methods the family had employed but realised they needed to change the production method post-harvest that would be able to add value to the coffee. With these changes they also discovered that the farm held the potential to produce specialty coffees and they started to further invest in employee training, farm infrastructure as well as acquiring a mechanical drier and motorbike for rotating coffee on the patio whilst drying.
In total the farm has 4 employees that work annually and then are supported by another 3 during the harvest. The coffee is mechanically collected before being delivered to the patio where it is dried for 10 days before being slowly finished in a mechanical drier. After this the coffee then rested before being milled and cleaned and delivered to the cooperative.
